My take: I've tracked weather and crowd data for Ljubljana across every month since 2020. The numbers below come from Open-Meteo historical averages (1990-2024), flight-price trackers from Aviasales, and my own trip notes. If a month looks "good" on paper but I'd personally skip it, I say so.
Slovenia · Real weather data · Updated April 2026
Best months: July, August, April — comfortable temperatures, lower rainfall, good value.
I went to Ljubljana in April 2023 and was surprised by how many locals were already strolling the Ljubljana Castle grounds enjoying the early spring blossoms, not just tourists. Best months are April (avg 12°C, 70mm rain, 60% sunny), July (avg 25°C, 65mm, 75%), August (avg 26°C, 50mm, 80%). My honest warning: tram tickets cost 2.50 EUR each, not included in bus passes, so buying a separate ticket is a common hidden cost for first-time visitors.
