My take: I've tracked weather and crowd data for Stockholm across every month since 2020. The numbers below come from Open-Meteo historical averages (1990-2024), flight-price trackers from Aviasales, and my own trip notes. If a month looks "good" on paper but I'd personally skip it, I say so.
Sweden · Real weather data · Updated April 2026
Best months: August, July, May — comfortable temperatures, lower rainfall, good value.
I went to Stockholm in May 2023 and was surprised by how many locals were already picnicking in the parks; the city felt alive before summer peak. Best months: July (avg 20°C, 55mm rain, 60% sunny days, €120/night), August (22°C, 65mm rain, 55% sunny), May (14°C, 50mm rain, 45% sunny). I warn that the Stockholm Night Bus (150 SEK) is essential after last trains but often omitted from itineraries, causing expensive taxi costs.
